Attempting to offer the best of both worlds, the X3-02 is what they call a "Touch and Type" phone. So svelte it
can slip into the pocket of your skinnies with ease, the candybar comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA resistive touchscreen, and a slightly non*conventional4-key wide numpad. No smartphone this, it runs Symbian S40 6th edition, but still manages to accomplish quite a bit. The home screen is customisable and you can fill up the available four slots with the includedwidgets. These include clock, calendar, favourite contacts, music, chat etc.
Apart from HSDPA, connectivity options include N Wi-Fi as well. The micro USB port supports charging. or you can use the regular 2mm Nokia charger. There's no dedicated navigation key- you control the proceedings using only the touchscreen, while the keypad only comes in handy for dialling numbers and entering text.
You do get dedicated shortcut keys to access messaging and media player apps though. A 5-meg fixed focus snapper is also on board. The touch UI supports kinetic scrolling, long press and provides haptic feedback. There's no 'document viewer, but you do get Opera Mini for browsing apart from the stock browser, Ovi Store, a mail client that hooks up to various accounts and instant messaging.
On the social front, the Communities client will keep you connected to Facebook and Twitter. But we found the screen to be too small for browsing. The music player and FM radio work well, while the snapper does the job, at least for stills. We love the slim form factor and the build, but at this price you can do better.
