Thread: Nokia N81 Mobile Phones

The latest release in the N¬series from Nokia is the 8GB storage capacity N81 .This 3G slider phone is feature packed and primarily a music and gaming device. The shiny black plastic casing does not lend much to the ruggedness of the hand setThe phone is pretty smudge-prone as well. Crafted for music and entertainment, the N81 front panel features media keys, the multimedia menu key,and a couple of gaming keys. One gripe that we have about the N81 is that the keys on the phone are pretty cramped. Sliding the front panel open reveals the numeric keypad.The first line of keys on the pad is too near to the front panel and hence is not comfortable to operate.

The phone really shines on its music playback ability though.You can transfer files to the phone via the bundled microUSB socket and the 8GB mammoth capacity takes care of your future storage needs. The bundled earphones do a pretty decent job; however, your favourite earphones can be used as well as the phone sports a standard 3.5mmjack.Onthe sides, the N8 1 has stereo speakers that can produce some really loud sound.The treble was on the high side while the bass reproduced by these two speakers was low. On the connectivity front, the N81 features WLAN capabilities, Bluetooth, and supports HSDPA.

Also integrated in the device are the N-Gage application and the Music Store feature.The phone comes with demo versions of FIFA, Space Impact,and Asphalt Urban GT. Although the games played on this device deliver a good taster, it cannot come close to the N-Gage QD phone in terms of ergonomics. The camera on the phone is 2MP with LED flash but lacks auto focus.The pictures taken from this camera were pretty average and a slightly better offering was was expected from Nokia. On the whole, the N81 is good attractive multimedia phone but it's not that revolutionary. And we feel that the N95 8GB would be a better option considering that there is not much of a price difference between them.
