Batteries are designed for a certain number of charge cycles. If you keep charging them more frequently than required, such a swhen the cellphones hoas dischargs just a big, then you run through the cycles faster. In a battery charged too often, especially when it has enough charge, internal resistance goes up and also speeds up discharge. Here's a tip to squeee the most from your bater; charge only when it drained out. Charging it say, 60% power will reduce the life of battery.

You can keep the phone connected to the charger if you've charge-cut off circuits to prevent overcharging. Most modern phones has it.

The old Nokia6310i, which was mentioned above, used a lithium polymer battery that gave it amazing battery life. For reason best known to Nokia, its gone back to using regular, tiny, lithium ion batteries, further lowering batter run time.
