Asus has been touting style for a long time and the U6 is definitely Asus' best work yet. It's exquisite looking and amazingly portable. Its glossy dark brownish-maroon finish gives it an understated yet sexy look. The 12.1inch LED-backlit LCD screen is so deliciously slender, you'll cringe at the thought of using chunky laptops ever again. The keyboard, though a bit cramped, is quite comfortable to type on thanks to the notebook's leather palm-rests. The trackpad with its brushed metal finish tries to go off the beaten path and succeeds.
What's really surprising though is the amount of tech Asus has managed to stuff into an ultraportable machine that's barely 1.5kg in weight. There's a ripping 2.4GHz Intel Penryn processor, biometric fingerprint sensor, HDMI, and 3G. So if you're travelling in the outback and there's no WiFi in sight, pop in your SIM and surf over 3G or EDGE depending on what your service provider offers. It also touts a built-in optical drive and a powerful 4800mAh backup battery. Powerful, slim, and good-looking - all at a very fair price, Asus' new clamshell is indeed designed to torpedo competition.
