This shining black, sleek notebook is probably one of the lightest we have seen in recent past. Forget the notebook itself, even the packaging is unique and exudes exclusivity. The leather palm rest and glossy lid can attract the attention of every onlooker but the lid is prone to fingerprint marks. You'll be constantly cleaning it. The U1 is based on the Intel Core 2 Duo U2400 ultra mobile processor and comes with 1.q GB of RAM. It uses a 1.8 inch HDD rather than the traditional 2.5 inch because of the rather slim chassis.

Amazingly, it manages to include 4 USB ports, unheard of in this size of notebook. It also has all the regular features like Bluetooth, a mini FireWire Port, webcam, VGA out, fingerprint reader, and HDD protection as extra level of security. The package also contains an external DVD writer and a matching wireless optical mouse.
Performance wise, it performed well in PCMark05 with a score of 2012 but less than what we got from HP 271 Op. As it is a business notebook, the low score of 398 in 3D Mark06 was expected. Don't expect a long run on battery as it comes with only a 3 cell battery (to keep weight down).

You should expect about 1 hour and 1 5 minutes. There are other tradeoffs with having an ultraportable notebook. For example, it does tend to get heated up rather quickly and even without stressing the components too much. It can be directly compared to the Sony VAIO TZ which offers a slightly more powerful processor (1 .2 GHz) but lesser RAM (1 GB), color options and a built-in DVD writer for just a 100 g weight increase. Ultimately they're both great machines, and you can choose either of them if you need ultra portability with a extra dose of panache.
