I’ve had my gmail set up perfectly ever since I got my iPhone months ago. Working perfect until I noticed it hadn't retrieved any of my mail. I'd open mail so I could do it manually but all it said was "connecting... Connecting..."

I haven’t done anything or changed any settings in mail when this happened.
What can I do?
