Brand Mobiles' BY501 is the latest effort an ability to let consumers send text sages in three Indian regional languages, ~enjoying multimedia features at a rela*oJy lolV cost. Users can use this handset to 'eand send messages in Bengali, Tamil and ~gu beside Hindi and English, making this ery versatile performer in the messaging '\1rtment. The handset we reviewed was a ~bination of black and orange colours. The ~tofthe phone is dominated by a 2.3 inch :reen,just below which is a square D-Pad r1J six soft buttons. The menu, SIMI and I buttons are on the left side of the D-pad ncreas contacts, SIM2 and the power button e placed on the right. There is no shortcut.

bare - there is not even a volume rocker key. The keypad of the phone is comfortable to use. The phone has a 1550 mAh battery, which is decent for a device in this price segment.
The multimedia side
The Byond BY501 comes with a l.3-megapixel camera without flash. The image quality was decent for a device in this segment. The maxi*mum resolution you can have is 1280x960 and image quality can be set as low, normal or
good. Other functions include effect settings and scene mode, which can be set to auto or night mode, as per your requirements. The video recorder can record the videos in AVI and 3GP formats. The phone also features an audio/video player and wireless FM radio. The audio quality through the headphones is passable and loud through the loudspeakers. The FM can play without earphones, which is a welcome addition.
The wireless FM's reception is good, although there is no provision for PM recording. You can save upto forty FM stations on the phone. For Internet, the handset comes with a stock browser, which is honestly sluggish. Bluetooth is also present with acceptable data transfer rates. The Internal memory of the handset is 258KB and can be boosted by using a microSD card. Other goodies include a stopwatch, an e-book reader, a slideshow utility, a calculator, a voice recorder, a calendar, and an alarm and world clock. Connectivity options include GPRS, USB and Bluetooth. All of which make the Byond BY 501 a decent option for anyone looking for messaging.
