The EF 71 is the latest to give in to the trend of actual metal. Although I must say that the cool metallic touch feels good to hold (not to mention sturdy). While it is a clamshell phone, all basic music controls are on the outside. Plus you can see all the track info on the white OLED display. It's not a full color screen, so you can't view
photos on it (like the new RAZR, for example), but it does have a bright
2.2 inch inner display with 262k colors.
A 2.0 MP camera is there but strangely without a flash. As a result, outdoor pics and video is good, but the ones shot indoors were a bit on the dark side. It can record 3 fps video though, albeit at a lower resolution. The on board memory of just 24 MB disappoints, but a micro SD expansion slot is provided to compensate for that. Just plug-in a 2 GB card and you're good to go. As an added bonus, the EF71 comes bundled with a neat FM transmitter. You can listen to music from the phone on your car or home FM receiver without the hassle of cables. It also has a password protected private folder that allows you to move and store private SMSes there. Of notable mention is the multi-format capable music player with a 1 a-band graphic equalizer and surround sound.
Connect it via USB to a PC, and you can use it as mass storage, webcam or as a modem. Battery life could have been better though. Overall, a good buy for those who need a stylish phone and music player in one.
