No one ever said putting force on the iPhone’s control grip on society would be easy; however the Palm Pre has managed to steal a little bit of Apple’s attention. The Palm Pre attempts to imprison a user within the initial few seconds of touching the device. It has a well designed case that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, unlike some of the other more cube types we’ve all grown familiar with. The Pre slides open to reveal a nicely crafted QWERTY keyboard for those who are touch challenged and would prefer buttons. Next to the multimedia segment, you will notice the Pre has a nice 3.2 MP camera with the ability to create pretty crisp images, making it competitive among other cell phone cameras. However, the Pre lacks video, which could disappoint those who love making videos with their cell phone as well as capturing all those wonderful summertime memories.

The Pre I guess you could say is a little “Pre”-iPhone when it comes to application side of things. While lacking a plenty of choices in the arena of applications, the Pre does well by giving you the fundamentals. However, I feel this area will become more developed once the kinks get worked out within Palm’s webOS. The Pre has made for an interesting cellphone opposition this summer, and looks to turn the “heat” up on Apple’s wonder child.
