It looks like a mobile phone, feels like one, yet isn't a mobile phone - at least not in the conventional sense. It's Wi-Fi and aids Skype VOiP sans a laptop. About the size of a large candybar phone (think Nokia 3310), it totally lacks appeal and won't get a second look, lest for its concept. But does it stand the hype? Build-wise, it's a fond reminder of the original wire-free fat phones that sport a shiny, plasticky front fascia, but a palmable, well textured body.

The keypad follows suit too, with hard buttons that offer a distinct tactile feel. The beauty of the phone, however, is the centre Joystick that helps navigate the menus. The retro-style, low-resolution display isn't made to impress, but enough to make/receive calls. We however demand more. There's a mini-USB for charging the phone and it takes around three hours to top up.

Setting it up is a piece of cake. Switch it on and it immediately latches on to an available Wi-Fi connection. It's WPA2 compatible too and that's great news. Once the customary signing procedures are over, it takes a while to log onto Skype network. Skype-to-Skype calls can be made from the home screen, it also allows SkypeOut calls. Talk-wise, the voice quality rules the roost with no delays or call drops to mention.

Deal-wise, it's manna from heaven for avid Skypers, but for the rest in the Geekworld we wish there was a little more to this phone to make the sale.
