Default My PC refuses to play DVDs yet in working order!

I have the following problem: I lookon my PC (very good) series, "Homicide" (from the book byDavid Simon, creator of the most excellent "The Wire").Series bought on Amazon, a priori good quality product (quality ofsupport I mean).

My DVD player does not play two discs in theseries.

Ie when I insert the DVD playerds, the computer believes that the drive is empty. Windows MediaPlayer does not start (same if I put Real Player by default) and whenI Start / Computer / DVD / Open, Windows says "Insert a disc"and the disc tray open. If I open Windows Media myself, I can notfind the DVD.

If I ever have to buy a DVD player, what do I need to take as an interface: Serial ATA or Parallel ATA(IDE)?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Thank you for your advice BIGBENFIRST!

Unfortunately it does not work either with VLC or K Lite Codec.
I just download them and then I tried to read my two drives with no results.

For example, with VLC, I do menu "Media" command "Open Disc", I try to play the DVD and VLC gives me the following message:

"Your media entrance can be opened:
VLC can not open 'dvd: / / E: \. " Check messages for more details. "

I do not know what he's talking about pr messages have "more details".

I drive a pioneer burner (although one of the best at the time) who asked me the same problem on the series Band of Brothers all dual layer dvd (10 dvd) 9 passed but not the 10th as it passed 2 on my other PC and my DVD player a few months after he passed away.

I took a asus recently and although it reads the famous 10th dvd, I guess that's a problem of lens worn on dual-layer DVDs but this is only a hypothesis.

I do the manipulations to update the driver as you indicate (ds Device Manager) but after upd pb not solved.

I do not really want to try version 11 of Windows Media Player because I feel that it is not a final version and some comments (on the page shown by your link) are saying bcp wrong.

Ok you show me there is this difference tjs IDE or SATA.

I think I have to take the same interface as what I have now, but I do not know if my tjs current drive is SATA or IDE.
