Based on the Android platform that embraces openness, the Creative ZiiO is perhaps the most recluse, eccentric and borderline hermitic device we've ever had the pleasure of coming across, Sure it boasts connectivity in terms of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the like, but unlike other slates you can't connect to the Android Marketplace which is perplexingly missing, Throw in the fact that you're saddled with an archaic OS that is Android 2.2 and a resistive screen that could be a lot more responsive and you'd wonder why release such a device in the first place, Where this 7-incher really shines is in audio and video playback, The Ziio plays nice with Creative's wireless headphones and sound docks via Bluetooth, The sound quality is brilliant and video playback is as good as it gets on a screen and resolution of this size - it played every format we threw at it from HD movies to YouTube fodder, It's an ideal media device if you're looking for something bigger than an iPod or smaller than a full*sized lO-inch tablet.
There's an SD card slot for extra memory and HDMI if you'd like to display videos on a bigger screen, Oh and there's a camera too but it barely does enough to pass muster while recording video or snapping photos, In terms of build quality, the plastic finish on the bezel and back is sturdy, This extends to the buttons as well. You may complain that it feels toy-like but you get what you pay for and at close to 18K you have the cheapest tablet around, For the rare occasion when you do need some internet-based connectivity, it has some basic apps for viewing e-mails and attachments, But by and large this is a one trick pony for all your multimedia needs, And as long as that's all you're getting it for, you'd be Just fine, or look elsewhere,
