    Default FLAC 5.1 & Interfaces

    Hello everyone,

That's in my back-up of Blu-Ray, I want to maintain the best possible audio quality ie the HD soundtracks.

The goal is to have a mkv file and it can be read easily by the PC's hard drive and multimedia.

If I keep the tracks DD True-HD or DTS-MA is a hassle to read.

I can also extract respectively the conventional DD or DTS core, it remains a subjectively good but I then lossy tracks. The advantage is that it's readable anywhere.

Now, if I encode the tracks True-HD or DTS-MA in FLAC 5.1, I get a format recognized both (PC and multimedia hard drive) and is also lossless. Will Am I wrong?

Besides, is there a difference in quality between FLAC 5.1, True HD, DTS-MA and LPCM?

    FLAC will your 5.1 S / PDIF....mais only if you encode in real time AC3 640kbit / s, with ffdshow or AC3Filter.

FLAC 5.1, True-HD, LPCM and DTS-MA are lossless while yes.

the false friend is the DTS-HR, which is lossy.

but it's probably best to extract the cores with AC3/DTS eac3to that encode lossless tracks to AC3 in real time, you have to compare!

If you want to keep lossless, you encode in flac, and you use the analog outputs of your sound card, but you need a sound card of a good standard.

Difference between flac and track HD
6 channels for flac, against 8 for HD
when decoding HD track to convert, you can have a loss of quality. In my case I use the decoder arcsoft total media theater for DTS MA. Otherwise, you may find yourself with the core DTS track encoded in FLAC

I just think even if I encode the audio in FLAC and it came to pass through the S / PDIF or optical, arrived on the amp it will happen because he knows decode DD or DTS but not FLAC!

What are my options to enjoy a rip Blu-ray with a lossless soundtrack? I need a receiver that decodes HD audio streams on which I send A / V HDMI right?

In this case you can just keep two runways.
The ac3 or DTS + for compatibility with a SPDIF connection in case we have no such HDMi

Keep track HD too, but the concern is at the decoding.
I had files in flac 5.1 the decoding was done correctly in XBMC or MPC example.
Of course in the case of lossless 1.2 and + HDMI is required to transfer the sound LPCM 5.1 (lossless decoded) to the amp.

So it's not necessarily a bad idea to oder the track in lossless FLAC and include it with the lossy track.
