A smart-looking portable hard drive, The hard drive segment seems to be caught up by the portability wave; so the Seagate FreeAgent Go 320 GB didn't come as a surprise. This new 2.5" FreeAgent Go has taken performance to a different level. When we first received it, we thought it was just another portable HDD. But the bench¬marking tests proved otherwise. It gave an average benchmark and of 26.8 MB/s in the Everest disk benchmarks. These are the best figures we have seen from a portable HDD. We managed to transfer an 800 MB video file in less than a minute (less than 50 seconds to be precise) and a 1 GB folder in 55 seconds.
Interestingly, even after huge data transfers or prolonged use, we faced no heating issues with the drive. It only needs a single USB 2.0 port, with no need for any external power. The dotted lights on the surface pulsate to indicate data transfer. The only gripe I have is with the length of its USB cable; it's really short. But other than that this USB offers superb performance and comes clad in a solid body. Considering speeds, this will definitely dethrone the Transcend Storejet from the top spot. Highly recommended.
