Default The New Marvell Sheeva Plug Development Kit

The Marvell SheevaPlug is a very curious computer integrated into a box the size of an AC adapter. Small, very small. Its features do not stand out because of the power that can offer: a micro Marvell 1.2 GHz, 512 MB RAM and 512 MB flash memory to act as hard disk, an Ethernet port and one USB 2.0. However, it may be an ideal device for daily tasks and very specific: Internet browsing, email and even office automation tasks. What do the vast majority of users go.

I see a great little drawback is that the Marvell SheevaPlug has no video output, which will connect a monitor to be done via USB 2.0. However, its two main advantages are the extremely low price, which connects directly to the plug, occupying a small space of our room. According to Marvell, is compatible with Linux distributions from the 2.6 kernel and a future plan to further decrease the price.

So that really throw these computers to surf the internet ... if you open 2 tabs, or enter a page with a bit of flash animation, adios.

I do not like that much to buy me a mini dell that cost almost the same and has more mobility.

Almost the same? Afraid not ... At least you go to twice (with the obvious advantages of power, be portable with a battery, keyboard, trackpad, screen ...) But now it is double.

Run Flash may be bad, but tabbed browsing I do not think much (add a thread of execution). Especially if the only thing that runs.

If you sell these items with a display at an affordable price. would be an option to be considered for developing countries, both as the bearer.

If you have a USB only, as is done to connect a keyboard and a mouse? It is a wonderful device.

As a curiosity not bad, but the truth if we have to add the price of a screen and a keyboard-mouse does not seem a great opportunity, because you can buy a little more ultraportable with enough better benefits.

I am thinking a couple of modifications. Bluetooth for connecting peripherals, video output compatible with the TV... We already have the TV connected to the internet. Youtube, streaming from the main computer ...

Bluetooth for connecting peripherals, such a chip is more or less for a dollar, a VGA or S-video is not going to go in price, another dollar, so for a usb disk external hard drive (or if you get wifi chip problem solved if we have a wireless), perfect for a computer but not very powerful enough to navigate the room. Indeed, it seems one side of the SD slot and a mini usb port.
