Player and USB port, the HT-X8lOR is actually a full-on home cinema package rather than a simple surround sound substitute. Pop a film into the slot, tap the trendy, touch-sensitive button and you'll be up the stairway to movie heaven in no time.
The wireless subwoofer makes set-up a cable-free breeze, and the bar does a tidy job of wrapping you in an aural blanket. However, when it comes to DVD picture quality, it starts showing a lack of class. Up scaling to lO80p via HDMI is okay, but there's more noise and less detail than you'd like. The styling is pure Samsung -lots of shiny, black plastic that looks great from a distance;but not so hot up close, like a Korean Matisse.
