Saitek, as a new entrant into the . portable speaker segment has a lot of ground to cover, thanks to the likes of well-established names like Creative and Parrot. Though
there is a strong differentiator; none of the portable speakers available are currently
2.1 channel (with built in subwoofer). And with the
A-250, you also get the wireless advantage. Both use Neodymium speaker drivers and are styled innovatively, to say the least.

Based on the 2.4 GHz wireless technology, the A-250 produces clear sound over big distances. With the USB wireless transmitter connected to your PC, it has a range of about 30 meters, but only if there's a clear line of sight between the unit and the transmitter. It performed flawlessly in both wireless as well as in-line mode, and you can use it with any MP3 player. The other speaker system that we received with was the A-200. It uses a bit of clever design, dubbed the Extended Air Volume
System (EAVS) chamber. It's nice and small when you want to carry it, but once you place it down on a desk, a simple press will allow the spring-loaded hollow chamber to expand for better bass. Similar to the A-250, the A-200 can also work on direct power or batteries, but its backup time is about 10 hours as compared to 20 hours of the A-250 (varies with type of battery used and usage pattern).

Overall, the A-250 is great if you want to walk around with your music inside your house. The A-200 is great if you need good sound from a small speaker system. I only wish they weren't so expensive and that a rechargeable battery pack was included in the price. II!)
