Its DURABrite ink lands on a piece of paper, the colorant adheres to the surface of the paper to reproduce the colour. The most significant innovation is in the print head, which is the key component at the heart of the inkjet printer. Epson is unique among major printer manufacturers in using Micro Piezo print heads that use piezo elements to emit ink. This technology prevents air bubbles from entering the print head while the ink is supplied to the print head.

This technology allows precise control of the piezo elements, which in turn means precise control of ink droplet size - and fantastic print quality. It is true to say that Epson' s new ink cartridges do not look very different from other ink cartridges. Despite appearances, however, these new cartridges are packed with various new technologies designed to ensure the highest levels of performance from an Epson printer. Epson is also a proponet of Print Image Matching and employs the same in its products.
