How we loved Denon's Smartlife S-301. How excited its virtual surround sound made us, and its ability to play DVDs despite looking like a micro hi-fi. How joyful we were when we plugged our iPods into it and beheld the on-TV iPod interface it spewed forth. But now it's all a distant memory.
We've dropped the S-301 just as the public drops an X-Factor winner on the release of their second single, because a newer, better sensation has come along. The S-302 does all of the stuff the 301 did, but upscales DVD output to 1 OSOp and has built-in Wi-Fi. It can stream audio files from your home computer or network attached storage, and receive internet radio from around the globe. Be off, 5-301: it's heat magaZine notoriety for you.
