Rejoice, Blu-ray players are finally venturing into consumer territory. And leading the fore is LG's latest "budget" player that's packs more goodies than Santa's Christmas bag.
You'll love the BD370's looks right off the bat. It's thin, sleek and minimalistic in design. The fascia doesn't sport any other buttons save for the silver power button that features an engraved Blu-ray logo - it glows an electric blue when powered on. The rest, as you'll find out, are niftily hidden behind a spring-loaded door. Merely push the door and it opens to reveal a few playback controls and a USB port. You can play DivX, MP3 and MPEG4 formats off a USB stick, and save content onto it as well.
Feature-wise, this box throws the world at you. There's support for the latest audio tech - Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Featuring a built-in Ethernet port, the player is also Blu-ray Profile 2.0 compliant, which means you can access extras and additional footage on Blu-ray movies using BD Live.
The YouTube interface works like a charm. Smooth playback depends on your broadband speed, but this player beautifully brings the world of amateur videos onto your telly. Blu-ray discs play nicely too. Load time is lightning-quick and footage is always sharp and noise-free. DVD upscaling isn't the best in the business Panasonic's BD60 does the Job better. Nevertheless, this is one heck of a Blu-ray, reasonably priced and loaded to the gill.
