At first glance, this device comes across as nothing more than a simple keychain. But if you look closely, you will realize that it's an ultra-portable photo viewer that actually lets you store digital pictures in it. Although its form factor isn't any bigger than a matchbox, it lets you store an entire album full of images in it. Let's take a look at its features.
FEATURES: The Genius photo viewer stores around 193 pictures in its 2 M B of built-in flash memory. Don't be alarmed, the images are automatically resized during file transfer from a computer to the device. Apart from the slideshow play/pause function, the button on the left also brings up a menu that allows you to set some options for the device. You can view the images in 'Slide' or 'Manual' mode, in which the buttons on the left let you flip through the photos .
The viewer is very easy to use. The bundled USB cable and software help in connecting and interfacing with it. Although the software isn't feature-rich, it lets you resize, crop and rotate the images before transferring them to the device. The viewer shows up as a 'Removable disk' in 'My Computer', but the downside is that drag-and-drop file copying doesn't work. Hence, the software is the only way you can transfer/delete images.
ERGONOMICS: Although it's as light as a standard USB flash drive, its looks aren't particularly impressive or aesthetic. However, the quality of the shell is above average and the buttons on the device are good to use too. A 'delete' button/function and the ability to use it as a removable flash drive (with more memory of course) would have been great and added value to it. Nonetheless, the software interface is pretty user-friendly.
VERDICT: The Genius photo viewer makes for a unique gift, but that's about it. We don't see any other need for someone to have a photo viewer with a 25 mm screen. FOR: Light in weight, easy to use, automatic resizing of images.
AGAINST: Small screen.
