The iMT800 consists of a pair of 1-inch tweeters, two 3-inch mid-range drivers and a set of 5.25-inch subwoofers that sit on both sides of the player. The player as usual takes centre stage, which also includes a retractable supporter that keeps the docked player in place. Source, EO, Forward and Backward track buttons are towards the top along with the power button/volume knob. The player also includes two auxiliary-IN ports that allow you to connect two more devices alongside the dock though only one can be used at a time. The unit also includes a sleek little remote with a clip, which can be hooked on to your pant loop preventing you from misplacing it.

Sadly the navigation buttons are hard enough to make your fingers ache when continuously used. An FM player is also integrated just in case. The iMT800 is impressively loud but delivers a rather muffled and flat output when the EO is set to zero. It's only with the EO turned on will you get to enjoy the sheer power of the iMT800. The bass is good and gives the thump required to keep your feet tapping to the music. The highs and mids aren't quite impressive at its default level (0) but do a decent job when adjusted. Nevertheless the Altec Lansing iMT800 is an expensive piece of equipment and it doesn't quite add up to the overall performance.
