When I first started writing this blog one of the things I wrote about it, why people such passion for gadgets. I have argued that people bought gadgets because they want to show off or to collect them as fashion accessories, or because they do not lose their children love toys.

I missed one class of gadgets that can dramatically improve the quality of life, and this device would fall into this category. This is a device that allows blind people to "see" through the conversion of light in the audio signal that the practice can be heard and interpreted as an 'image' of their local conditions.


In vOICe system was developed by a researcher at Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, Holland. Eye glasses feature a built-in camera that searches in the vicinity once a second.

Using software for signal processing, the camera images are converted to sound with:

• bright regions is proceeding as loud sounds

• objects at the top of the vision appear within, as the high

• bright objects on the left side of the production of reliable, which will appear as a loud sound in your left ear…

and so on.

The human brain is surprising that after a period of time, people may interpret the sounds of clicks and beeps in both ears, so you can create a mental picture of neighborhoods with the cacophony of sound that the device produces.

It is clear to me that this device is in its infancy, and, of course, it can only help blind people who can hear, but it is certainly a gadget that will make a profound impact on people's lives.
