Introduced to mankind on the eve of the First World War, headsets have been an essential component of communication systems for years. Once the sole realm of pilots and telephone operators, they have come to be an important part of a computer user's daily life. Primarily designed as communications devices, the foray of headsets into computer technology made them evolve into cheap alternatives to dedicated headphones and rnics, for listening to music, watching movies, playing games and chatting on VolP applications like Skype, and even work with speech recognition programs.

Since headsets were always used for communications systems, wearer comfort was the most important factor, also their speakers and microphones had been designed to reproduce and capture human voice. However since their use is much more varied in the computing world, now headsets are expected to efficiently and accurately reproduce a whole variety of sounds that a computer can deliver. A headset has to have a good mic, which can be adjusted to the user's whim, a good remote that can change volume levels, and switch the mic on and off. We covered a whole range of headphones from all the brands that we could find!

Features:-
We glanced over the technical specifications provided by the manufacturer, however we did not give them any weightage We noted the type of remote control offered and allotted weightage to the controls that it offered. We gave points to headsets which had an inline soundcard, and even more to models in which the sound card could be removed as this makes them compatible with other devices like MP3, CD players.

Performance:-
Headset's primarily being communications devices; this section was only allotted
25 percent of the overall score. The performance of the headsets was evaluated in games, movies and music, speech and mic capture quality.
MUSIC: We covered a variety of songs that we thought covered the typical sounds of their specific genre Our playlist included "Dreaming" by Brian Transeu Jamiroquai's "Feels Like It Should", "My intro to let you know" By OutKast and" Paathshaala" From Rang de Basanti. Additionally we subjectively rated the reproduction of clips from Alan Parson's audio test disc which is considered a standard among audiophiles.
MOVIES: We took Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds", a movie that has a variety of sounds that push the drivers of the headsets to their limits and give us a clear picture of their capabilities. There are spells in the movie without any background music that highlight the foley sounds and dialog, and lay the sonic story bare before us to analyze.

Build quality:-
Here, we subjectively assessed the quality of materials used in construction. The quality of the straps and cushioning greatly affect the life span of the product so these were also rated. We also assessed the quality of buttons and dials, and cables. The ones that flaunted great aesthetics were awarded more points than awkward or average-looking ones.
