WHEN IT COMES to Portable Flash Drives, a small rectangular boring stick is what one always has in mind first. Sandisk has changed that by introducing the Sandisk Extreme Ducati Edition USB Flash Drive. With a Ducati Corse logo on the top and the red tailed back-light, close attention has been paid to the design resembling one of those Ducati's motor-bikes for sure. The body has a glossy red chassis with black trimŽming, and the hidden silver flash drive could be slid out smoothly. Such a cool design would woo a lot of Moto-GP fans, even if it is only for the look.

The Ducati arrived with a 4GB of memory, with a claimed speed of 20MBs for both read and write. There is a Sandisk RescuePro included in the CD, in case you accidentally delete files from it. Performance-wise, what the Sandisk Extreme Ducati Edition delivers is satisfactory and it raced out our test easily. In our read and write test, we achieved 25MBps on both linear and buffer read speed which is satisfactory for a USB flash drive. Our write test came out with an average linear write speed of 18.9 MBps, random write test average speed of 11.3MBps while the maximum speed was achieved at 22.8MBps. Copying 3GB of assorted files from our hard disk took 2 minutes 53 seconds.

As a whole, the result was above average in all our performance tests. Overall, the whole package is impressive, has a sleek design, looks to flaunt, and a speedy performer. The only hiccup we have here is the hefty tag of Rs 6,790 which may put off many buyers, but since this flash drive falls in a different league, it will attract buyers who just love to have a designer product or Ducati-aficionados.
