A Math mines had problems with his assortment of iPod Nano, so he decided to flog it on eBay and buy an Archos Gmini 402cc, and he was kind enough to write us a review. For you, Alex.

I had a disappointing experience with Apple and their iPod nanos plus their cheesy technical support. Da story short, Apple is very disappointing, and so their product lines. So, I decided to upgrade to something much better. One of my good friends Jon is a great piece called tech Gmini 402. So, I did some searching, and found that Archos has just launched its new Gmini 402 CC. Now, John Gmini is simply amazing. It plays videos, music, games and sound recordings, as well as many others. But Gmini 402cc has much more to offer.

Features
Cameras:
Simply amazing is all I have to say. This is a new feature on the 402cc model. In the 402 does everything that makes 402cc, but does not have a built-in camera. In allowing cameras to record DVD quality video up to 50 hours, is encoded in real time to MPEG-4. You can change the quality of recordings to one of five different qualities. You can also take still photos. Now there is a side chamber. Although he can write DVD / VGA quality video, the image quality is still maxed from amounted to only 1.2 Mega pixels.

Multi format music player:
Basically what you have here is a full featured iPod. All you would expect, on the go playlist, Album art, music information, and many of the supported formats. You can easily transfer songs from your computer and organize them with enhanced ARCLibrary. Store up to 10000 songs in the format used by most such as MP3, WMA, WAV and protected WMA (PlaysForSure ™ - files). In Gmini 402 Camcorder also offers audio recording application to record (encoding in real time) in WAV (PCM and ADPCM), from almost all analog stereo sources. You can also use the built stereo microphone if you want to record notes to yourself easy access later.

Video playback:
You can transfer up to 80 hours of video on the Gmini through its USB 2.0/1.1 interface. It supports and video format, and plays them very well for the quality of its 2.2 "screen. Now, I know that sounds small, but I saw him in action and quality, vibrancy, and the overall impressiveness truly amazing. Everyone agrees , the on-screen beats the iPod 5th generation (video), with the help of a landslide. It runs smoothly and effortlessly.

Photo Wallet:
You can list up to 200000 pictures from the computer, or you can use the built-in USB Host Port. This right, a second USB port that allows you to connect your Mass Storage compatible cameras, USB Key Drive, Portable hard disk, or any other self-catering mass storage device Gmini, and the right to manage its content right there! It takes digital photography to another level, especially if you do not want to use the built-in 1.2 MP camera. You can organize your photos in a simple thumbnail or slideshow views, and watch them on the Gmini 402 Camcorder screen or any external display.

Communications:
In Gmini 402 Camcorder has a USB Host Port allows you to copy, share, connect and transfer files directly from other food mass storage devices such as digital cameras, card readers, USB keys, and nutrition portable hard drives. Play straight back any compatible content on the external hard drive connected to your Gmini 402 Camcorder (with no data needed). In Gmini 402 is also equipped with high-speed video cameras USB 2.0 interface to connect the device to a PC or Mac and easily transfer content. Moreover, the TV out to enjoy the pictures and movies on any external display, and comes with all the cables and adapters for you.

Games:
This right people. Games! Very impressive in this game. Jon has a doom-like 3-D Shoot 'em game for Mophun engine (used by many cell phones and other portable devices). There are many games down downloaded from the Archos site (link below).

I will not mention all the specifications here, but you can see them all on the official site Archos

One of the disadvantages of batteries is the Gmini. It allows 10 hours of music playback, but only 2 hours of video. I do find it disappointing, but if in doing that, in many other qualities.

Retail price for this bad boy is $ 399.99, but can be found at 340.99, if you look around. You can also find Gmini 402 (without camera) at $ 220.00 or less PriceGrabber. (All prices are in dollars).
