In this day and age, to start a war without a Global Positioning System (GPS) will be virtually suicide, as you will not be able to pinpoint the exact location of your goals, as well as military personnel. In the United States Agency Advanced Studies Department of Defense (DARPA), of course, thought about such a GPS-less situation, and awarded concept development contract with the team bigwig corporations, led by none other than Boeing. Known as Strong surface ways (RSN) program, this technology will be focused on developing technologies that can use various "signals the possibility of" - basically any electronic waves emanating from satellites, cellular towers, and even a TV transmission tower. This technology will be able to provide the exact location and navigation information to the Army, even when GPS signals are unavailable or blocked.
The entire project team includes ROSUM, NAVSYS, and the joint Spectrum, in which these companies to share technical expertise and potential for development is extremely robust and comprehensive system for surface navigation. ROSUM currently is the only company that has used broadcast TV signals for the detection of mobile assets, and married and TV signals for GPS 100% situational awareness regardless of the environment. NAVSYS, on the other hand, provide high-quality products and services in the GPS hardware design, systems engineering, systems analysis and software development. Common Spectrum in pedigree comes from the fact, it has developed new cognitive radio technologies to government and commercial customers, which are fairly quirky (read: difficult) and radio networks needs.
If the project is successful, it is possible to say: "All your bases belong to us!" With pride.
