iRiver seems all set to take on Amazon's Kindle e-book reader. Although not yet named, a prototype of the company's e-book reader has appeared on its Korean website. And it seems to have a lot more than JUSt the ability to download books and facilitate reading. According to information on the site, the e-book comes with a colour display and can also recognise handwritten notes, making it a tablet of sorts.
It features a touch sensitive e-ink screen, and runs on AAA batteries, that provide for up to six months of battery life. Given iRiver's musical pedigree, will it also play music and video? We will know when the gadget hits the stands later this year. In the meantime, watch this space!
