Having multiple functions in a watch is always a big draw. Suunto's aptly named wristtop computers try and cram in as much as possible, while still keeping size down. The Core (featured is the Black Yellow style) has a dot matrix display, temperature gauge, altimeter, barometer, stopwatch, compass, and multiple times and alarm functions. The price for the Core ranges between Rs 14,500 and 29,500, depending on the style-all watch functions remaining the same. That raises two big problems. Firstly, citing the price aloud draws incredulous 'It costs that much?' remarks.

Secondly, and this is the big one. The top-end metal case and bracelet Core is priced almost the same as Tissot's iconic T- Touch; what I call treading dangerous territory. The few things that go in favor of the Suunto are the EL backlight and the fact that it is a device for the more serious outdoors man as compared to the T-Touch (including built- in memory for storing logs and weather trends). If you're into hiking, mountain biking or parachuting, it's great. Or you can buy it for the immense geek value.
