Trine 2 is a puzzle platform video plot, expecting the player to use the skills of the 3 roles, Amadeus the wizard, Zoya the thief, and Pontius the knight, to cross each game level. Like the first game, the game " Trine " has limit the 3 roles together into one common entity, and thus the player controls only one character which can be switched to the other two at any time. Every role has alone abilities: Amadeus can use magic to grab onto certain objects in the game world, and make boxes and boards to be used to get around; Zoya can strike at objectives with her arrows, and grapple onto certain platforms; and Pontius is strong in combat against foes, can bash apart walls, and deflect projectiles with his shield.
The Combining of these components are needed to over each level in the game's world.
Roles have individual life meters, and if 1 role's meter depletes, that role cannot be used until the next checkpoint is reached. If all three characters lose their life meter, the player must start back at the last checkpoint. During the game world are particular magical vials, and for each fifty of these gathered, the player receives a skill point, which can be used to earn abilities through a skill tree for each role.
This game helps till 3 players in a co-op mode. In this way, each player assures one of the 3 roles, but all must be alone; 3 players will be forced to play as Amadeus, Zoya, and Pontius. 2 players can alter roles as long as both consent to the swap. If a one of the player dies, the other players can revive the role at the following stop. The characteristic tree is shared between everybody's roles, depended on the hosting player's saved game.
