The Passport 80GB from Western Digital is actually a passport-sized hard-drive that will slide easily in trouser or jacket pocket. You won't even notice you're carrying 80GB with you. This all-black drive, when plugged in the USB port, emits a blue light in a circular shape. The light flickers during data transfers, indicating drive activity. The build quality is solid with a rubber base that provides a firm grip when the portable drive is placed on the desk.

The Western Digital Passport 80GB hard-disk uses a USB 2.0 interface and comes with a 5400rpm hard disk that offers better performance over the 4500rpm drives. As the drive is powered by USB, no separate power supply is needed. It comes with WD Sync software for synchronisation and encryption that lets you save your critical data and take it with you. However, this feature is only available for Windows users.
We particularly liked the design and appearance of the drive. The black colour lends a premium look to it. The only thing missing in the retail package is a protection casing or sleeve.
