THE MAXTOR ONETOUCH IS YET another impressive product from the Seagate stable. This external drives comes in a black plastic spine sandwiched between two concave brushed-aluminium side-plates. The ruggedly built drive has a capacity of 750 GB external backup. The OneTouch has one mini USB2.0 and two FireWire400, and a power adapter socket, in addition to a Kensington lock security.

The OneTouch comes bundled with the Maxtor Manager software. The software lets you back up individual folders as well as whole drives. It also supports a scheduled backup, which is very good as you tend to forget when to back up. You can create a backup routine, but you cannot save more than one routine at a time. You can even customized your sync routine on selected folder and drives.

In terms of security features, there is a two level security: the DrivePass to protect the entire drive and a Maxtor encryption for your files and folders. In the Encryption option, you cannot view any files, but it can be deleted. Using the DrivePass option, you can protect the entire drive with a password. This totally blocks the PC from detecting the drive. But once you plug in the drive/reboot your system it will ask for the password.

One final word, the Maxtor One Touch has a simple to use and user friendly software and a really attractive price for a 750GB capacity with 5 years warranty. For this amount of capacity I will suggest you to go for this brand rather than buying a DYI without any warranty.
