    Default Asus Express Gate

    Hello all,

    As I discuss here , I'm thinking about buying a new PC + / - complete.
As to my research, I discovered the Asus motherboards with Express Gate function.

In summary, this function allows to boot a PC + / - 5sec and load an interface based on a Linux kernel with built-in browser (based on Firefox 2.0), and the Linux version of Skype. So basically we have access to the Internet for fast read / send email or look at sth, make a phone call with Skype in 5sec! I found this great idea, but obviously the motherboards that offer this are quite expensive.

Some are already equipped eeePC and the result seems convincing. I found this great concept. The OS actually seems lighter than the applications it is intended to launch. I have a eeePC 901, without ExpressGate on the motherboard. It is possible to boot ExpressGate on USB key (since it was cracked by a member of Phoronix). From the moment the pc is seeking the OS, the boot does not take more than 2 sec.

G a ASUS P5Q it works very well in 5 seconds on the web but
    - Not certain functions (eg pdf reader)
    - A great way for the son to bypass parental control based on a soft it's still a plus if plantus the OS was always an internet access.

think it's great practice! AC can go super fast on the net! Seraice do that to watch the weather. While your pc boot fast enough, but if you just 2 weeks of install it not surprise me!
You'll see when you're fifty software installed!

Incompatible with AHCI mode unless it is the USB version.
    - Not limited resolution that could get drunk quickly and according to the native resolution of your screen.
    - If these motherboards cost more AC is not only for the express gate.

Just a quick question: I know that Express Gate can not access the Internet with a network cable (RJ45) and not a wireless card plugged into the pc pci-e (yes I already had a motherboard Asus ExpressGate with). So I was wondering if you could connect to the Internet via WiFi (on port PCI-e) but also how the Internet was protected from viruses (if necessary).

    Thank you!

Have you seen that need any disk to boot EG, you're also well done to boot an OS on another disk. And speed question, when you can wait 5s can wait 10 or 20 seconds to boot an OS real. In a native resolution, not limited to 1280 * 1024 all yucky. Me I have off, it's no use, functionality bozos. What you get from time to time we lose every boot to wait to spend the ExpressGate screen, which is quite drunk when the main OS boot quickly indeed.

Technology mature by ASUS and introduced with their P5E3 motherboard that utilizes Splashtop, which is a Unix environment that is organic onto the motherboard.
