Default which processor with a GTX 560?

    Hello everyone,

I am now the happy owner of a GTX 560 but I want to guide them in choosing a processor that would take full advantage of the GC. I want a setup that can fully exploit the PhyX in games like MAFIA II for example.

I have a Q6600, but I'm not sure it's enough. Should I OC my Q6600? this processor is still fit for a GTX type card 5xx?
Otherwise, what processor should I buy to exploit the full potential of my GC?

    Thank you.

    Hello,
but this involves a change of CM + Ram. If you plan to stay on the S775 a Q9550 or Q9650, but considering the price of nine of these procs. Otherwise as you say at first a CB and AC should already be pretty good.

In fact, it bores me to stay on a Q6600 because it would redeem the memory (there are only 2 GB) and I'm not sure this processor, even OC can achieve the performance I want. I am very attracted a core i7 2600 but there is a bit expensive. Do you know if other processors sandy bridge above 2600K are planned in the coming months?

Normally nothing nan over yet but the I5 2500K is the best to play perf price level knowing that the strength of 2600 is that hyperthreading is strictly nothing in games.

I have a GeForce GTX 560 and a q6600 oc to 3.8GHz I have, I play nfs hot pursuit, Metro 2033, black ops. I guarantee you that I am not cpu limited with, metro takes 70% max CPU example, I do not know if metro is cpu dependent, should do with the games you've played.

It is difficult to assay the pros and cons. If I stay on a Q6600, it forces me to invest in additional components are not given price level. Especially since the dude who sold me (for free) with the Q6600 pc told me it was quite complicated to OC (this one in particular, I mean). The 2500K makes me really want, for 200 euros, I think there is nothing wrong because at stake, it puts most of the core i7 carpet (except the last one, that the core i7 2600K I find overpriced).

It should not exaggerate either, a 2500K, even if his perfs are excellent, it does not put in the carpet core i7! In bench, we can see that the 2500 is above the others i7 involved, you will not see absolutely no difference between a 2500 and an i7 950 per instance.

I was not thinking at all core i7, but a good party. Say that the difference between a 2500 and any i7 is visible at the price. I moderate so my last message, but supporters that it is better to buy an i5 2500K rather than most i7 cores that are (still) too expensive and not always as powerful.

On this point, completely agree, who wants to change the process now and in that price range, given the price / perf, there is no contest, without hesitation 2500K.

I'm pretty impressed by the performance of the Q6600. However, investing now in a new pc would bother me if I should shun new technologies emerge. On the other hand, people can think what they want reasons that guide my choices and are as follows: as I told in my first post, I want a configuration for the physX equipped to play on Mafia II and other games with this technology. Cores i7 i5 and some are very well to manage these effects, but for the Q6600, I am less certain.
