Default I bought a new computer

It has Windows 7 Home Premium. I knownothing. I haven't had a novel computer as Windows XP.
Let'scommence at the basics. How do I import my favorites from my copy onmy external hard drive to my novel internet explorer? While I attemptto import my faves, it says me to browse. Hence I browse to myfavorites file and it takes a firm stand that I go down to a singleitem and it says there is nothing to import.
That will do fortonight. I feel like I've finally gotten into the 21st century. Now Ihave to figure if I like it or not.

But I think he was amplifying. I didn't do anything too logical exporting the favorites. I only copies the complete (or most) of the hard drive to the external one. Nowadays I'm only opening the faves folder and opening the websites I wish and saving them to the novel computer's hard drive. Can I export the favorites file with the outside to a file and import it to the internal? I'm not also confident how to do that. Can I just overlay the old one over the new one? It appears as that's what I did before but that was a few years ago.

I haven't also attempted to work with outlook express. I have ate up Quicken and Office and AVG. I'm till yet confused about what is on top of internet explorer but I'm working on it.
This week has been rough anyhow. I have a novel schedule at work, my shoulder still hurts from a fall, one doctor wants to do a cat scan and another an MRI. My cat died Friday and I arrived down with the 1st cold I've had in years.
At any rate, I've been sleeping much more. It's a hell on earth of a way to end a year.

copy the entire path of C:\Documents and Settings\<your user account>\Favorites from the XP machine to C:\Users\<your user account>\Favorites on the W7 machine.

Commence acquiring the directory organization of W7 and their equivalent in XP and the puzzles will be figured out. Good luck and HNY!

That stands up for "User Access Control". Windows 7 likes to think that all users are possible hackers with criminal aim. You might want to settle your security settings to convert Win7 that you are not a threat. Other than that, most of what you were accustomed to with XP is till yet there with Windows 7 but all has been either renamed, reorganized or both. This causes confusion for those who are animals of habit. I powerfully surmise that rearranging all was handled by an all female team

I've acquired used to UAC and it doesn't bother me. I experience why it's there and that's why I allow it pop up every at present and then.
You will see "Libraries" in the system. Documents and Settings has gone and been replaced by "Users", but you may find some folders that seem ordinary, but when you try to plus files to them, or delete or move files from them, you will get an Access Denied message. That's all right because these are what is called "Junction Points". They are not original folders at all, but types of shortcuts to other places. That's because some older software will want to install files in the old Documents and Settings folders. As these no longer exist, Win7 renders these Junction Points to let the install to continue.

I'm really sorry to hear everything about your problems Diana. I expect 2012 proved to be a better year for you. (Apart from Armageddon of course!)
If the proposition from samkh works for you then that's great.
If not, any opportunity you can till yet access the old XP machine and export those Favorites that way?
25 years late! Son's are as that aren't they, mean!
