Default netgear cg814wg tcm v2 help

    Hello everyone,

I have Cox cable in Arizona. I have a “Cisco dpq312” internet and telephone modem. I have a “Netgear cg814wg tcm v2” wireless cable modem/router that I am attempting to use as only a wireless router.

When I link the two, the link light on the Cisco blinks yellow and I acquire no internet, but my CPU links to the netgear gateway only fine. And when I plug my CPU straightaway to the Cisco it works fine even, I acquire internet and the light is blinking green.

What is the trouble with me connecting the Cisco to the netgear for me to use the netgear as only a wireless router?

I have never went this direction earlier and honestly am not sure if you can. It sounds as the "Modem" slope of it is interfering with the connectivity. Would prolly be time ahead only spending the $35-$60 on a wireless router, or talk with your ISP and watch if you can acquire the Netgear set up correctly and completely remove the Cisco.

Please I can't find any info on that part number, you sure that is the correct ?

Thank you for the fast reply. I feel bad for cisco dpq3212. But I have even attempted this with my old skool apple airport extreme 54g, and it still did not work, I was thinking it was my fault and im doing something wrong.

If I was inside your place, I could log within the Cisco, copy down the every details listed around the link and employ those to the Netgear and attempt to create it operate by itself.

What IP address do you acquire when you switch your computer straightaway into the Cisco? What ports are you plugging all in on both devices?

The cisco is how cox is affording me, my phone service as well as the netgear dosen't have a phone jack. The cisco is just a modem and dosen't have any routing capability. My IP address of V4 with the cisco is 70.190.x.x and right away I am out of ideas.

Ok, hold the Cisco connected, go rear and edit your IP two posts over to say 70.190.X.X as giving away a public IP could be a bad idea.

As your modem is affording you a public IP, I would switch on my netgear without plugging it in and reset it to system defaults. Warning, when doing that, all previously inserted data will be gone. Then plug a network cable into port 1 of the netgear and log into it via the default IP 192.168.0.1 and see what settings you can change.

Yes so I called every1. Apple no longer supports. The same with netgear. I have resettled everything both together with the cisco and nothing has altered cox refuses to assist me with this trouble.

If you can't assist me no one can. There is no reason I can think of why either of my routers don't with the cisco. I am rear to asking you and I m pissed at cox now, but you have been great.

Ok, just to go over the basic stuff so we know we have it out of the way. Are you using a USB or ethernet cable to go among the Cisco and the computer? Presuming a network/ethernet cable, take that cable and link it to your computer and to the netgear inside port 1 without the Cisco hooked up to the netgear.

Log into it via the default IP 192.168.0.1 with user: admin and password: password and see what settings you can change. Check out this link and the last post kind of tells you how to set it up to work.
