Default Lays operating Low On HDDs? ????

The Thailand flooding issue is actually beginning to hit home. I was in my Best purchase today and they appeared as they were short managed on internal drives. There were some on the postpones but not the common standards. There appeared to be plenty of external drives but some of the cheaper ones.

Wow. Noticed a price spike on novel egg a little when rear, took me small when to connect the dots, but it appears as the floods in thailand might actually have a bigger affect on the tech markets then the tsunami in Japan.

What kills that is that given the affect on the markets, that has to average that the affect on the people there is easy devastating. My thoughts go out to them.

Honestly I hadn't actually been holding up with the news on it. I heard it was fairly bad but that was about it. I was only reading some of the information above with Wikipedia sounds as its a serious long term issue on an enormous scale!!

Yeah, rich not certain if you read my gripe the other day in the F@H spam thread, but appears that $54.99 1TB Deal BB had, they were out of stock by Monday night, and not wishing to be able to ship anymore to stores for rest of week. If I hadn't experienced about the drive shortage I probably would of asked for rain check, but they were out. By the time I acquired home and attempted ordering online , I couldn't, and later still I encountered out Not ONE of the Stores in MN here , could acquire the drives, thus website must of not been updated to reflect being out of stock.

I only hope there are some sales soon in the next week or thus, acquire paid next Thursday (maybe wednesday, if not then friday due to holiday), but also if I can pick up at least a good 640GB or larger 32MB Cache 7200RPM drive for cheap I'll be happy. Also though I don't require it right now, would be nice to have on hand if I did.

Other than, with shortage of these drives, I would hope SSD prices would come down, but they won't as they won't have any competition from regular drives with greater storage and suitable speeds to drive down prices.

Hopefully this would be a signal to WD and Se-agate to take their respective heads out of their Arses and construct their fabrication plants rear home, or in less likely natural disaster areas such as Thailand... let alone on a freaking flood plain.

Doubt it... Western Digital, Along with Se-agate are American companies, but all their is made over there it appears.

Other than, We have IBM, and Maxtor I believe, but I think one of them has a joint deal with Hitachi drives. Then there is Samsung & Fujitsu... obviously asian... Aside from that for regular Hard drives, I know of no others in the market.

I however encounter it funny in a mode that aside from Samsung, nearly all the rest of the Regular traditional HDD Manufacturers have not actually acquired into the regular Consumer SSD market still. Apparently branching out their product lines hasn't dropped in still... May be this will alter that?

Some External drive just soared this week. Their pricing seems to be very spotty. WD appears to be taking the biggest hit or at least it appears like their prices are the ones I see fluctuating most. I haven't remarked SSDs taking as much a hit. I think those companies are located elsewhere.
