Default Hard drive cloning and imaging

We have been encouraging Acronis TrueImage as a utility to clone and image (support) hard drives. The 2big HDD producers (Seagate and Western Digital) today have a freecustom edition of Acronis available that will work just with theirdrives, but is fully characterized. Download them from everyproducer's back up site. Sorry, still Hitachi and Samsung users donot have identical tools around available.

If I'm already applying the most recent ATI....would downloading the one particularly for WD (which I do apply) have any form of benefits? Or is this more only for people who don't apply ATI still?

I've been applying DiscWizard for a good 9 months today. Haven't had to restore from it, but it seems to be solid and causes no issues with the system.

If I am copying from a Seagate drive to a WD drive or vice versa, which plan would I employ -- the Seagate edition or the WD edition? (Or would neither plan work?)

After the cloning process is finished, will the program verify that the copied files match the original files and that they are not corrupt? In the past when I've copied files from an old drive to a novel drive, I've had troubles with the copied files being corrupt, and I'd love to detect a mode to ignore that.

Can the plan be configured to selectively copy certain files, or is it just capable of doing a clone of the complete drive from beginning to end?

    Hello,
I am using the program Acronis True Image 9 for my support and it runs all right. I am employing this program as long and even restore from the image many times and works all right. The best thing about this software is the software support with the bios restore point, thus in any case the system acquires corrupted from the bios we can restore it. We did not require to load the system and the compression is even good. I am using this program in Windows XP sp2. I will attempt some other later. Thanks for rendering link and names of other programs.

It is today glc...I only DL'd Maxblast last day, & it seems to be the similar like Disk Wizard, with the Maxtor name entered for Seagate, both are editions of Acronis. I have a trouble, that Seagate does not appear to have an answer for via 2 chat sessions.

I currently have 2 Maxtor drives set up, with another Seagate drive on the mode to substitute one of the Maxtors, thus I DL'd Seageates Disk Wizard in readying. I read via the tutorials connected over. It surely seemed only as Acronis True Image, which I already have set up.

With any of the Acronis-based utilities, I highly recommend that you employ the boot able media rather than running the program in Windows. Yes, you have to install it in order to create the boot able media unless you get the software on CD, but if you acquire an set up error because of a conflict with another version, employ a different computer to create the media.

I bit the bullet, & uninstalled Acronis TI. I then set up Seagate's DiscWizard without any errors. It seems to me, that having a last edition of Acronis set up, will cause DiscWizard (and Maxtor's MaxBlast) to error. It would be great if Seagate\Acronis would afford a warning about that...or better still, do a "previous software installed" check.

Disc Wizard (edition 11) is powered by Acronis, and seems to be the similar plan of Acronis, with the exclusion of the name. It does not ask for a drive serial#, and I was capable to employ Disc Wizard on my 2 Maxtor drives (I have a novel Seagate drive coming today).

Thanks for the heads up glc...I will be employing the boot able media to do my task. I have some other particular questions, but I will begin a novel thread for that.

Hi, I am trying to clone an old IDE hard drive applying Norton Ghost 2001. I traveled along PCmech's directions on how to link the IDE cables, jumper settings, and hard drive arrangement. Still, when I boot up my PC and enter Norton Ghost, it only knows one hard drive at a time. It thinks that the Primary slave (the novel and empty IDE hard drive) is the primary master and vice versa. Hence, Norton Ghost rejects to clone because the old hard drive is realized as the slave with little available space to clone to. I checked everything and even switched the jumper settings, nothing works! Please help me with cloning my hard drive!
