    Default No Hard Drive

About a year ago I assemble a PC usinga P6T MB from asus. I've ahead no troubles with this system until aweek ago when my computer became septic with what I believe was aworm blaster virus.

The moment of the infection, thevirus deactivated and blocked my anti virus program and initiated afalse scan of my computer by few rascal package. My system runsMicrosoft essentials and malware bytes. Every program that Iattempted to begin was blocked by this virus. I restarted my systemand the same thing happened. I attempted to restore to a last datewith no luck thus I applied the windows CD to repair the operatingsystem.

Later restarting the HD was no longer visible in bios.By pressing F8 during begin up I was able to detect the drive on ablue display and begin my system. I can't begin in safe way. I ranthe system restore to a previous date, ran malware bytes andnecessities to clean my system then down loaded the missing driversand my computer began generally.

Previous night my computerdid some automatic updates and this morning my HD is not detected inthe bios. According to a tech at asus I require to flash my bios. The trouble that I have with this task is that the most recent biosupdate is above a year old, my system was working the right way priorto this.

Any thoughts why this is going on?

I would acquire to a clean PC and burn a copy of Microsoft System Sweeper. It is a startable CD scanner for malware. It is available in 32 bit and 64 bit. Download the proper one that match's your operating system.

I am eager why the tech told you to flash the BIOS. What version did he say you to flash? You may have a separate issue and I am eager what BIOS number he recommended for future reference.

Those trojans are caused by someone clicking on a virus warning although surfing the internet. If you have been updating Microsoft Security Essentials, there is no reason to be infected by these. These are common malware and generally MSE will acquire these.

Something else is happening with your system. Do have leftovers of an old anti virus program? Did you completely remove your previous anti virus? If so, which one were you using prior to MSE?

That's what I figured. You should not have that Immunet set up, it prevented MSE from doing it's job. MSE by itself handles everything. If you expect added insurance, install malware bytes (free version). It will not run resident and can be run in safe mode in the event you don't trust the MSE. I have still to detect a scenario where MSE did not manage something and Malware bytes did.

In considers to the BIOS update, I concur with the tech. There have been various updates and 1408 have them, some of which address HD issues. Do not update via windows. Apply the EZFlash 2 method, clear instructions are detected in section 3-1 in your motherboard users manual.

The version the tech suggested is 1408 which was last updated 11/9/10 and chipset update 9.1.1.1014. With considers to the virus Microsoft essentials caught it immediately and that's when I started having issues. Immunet is the other software. This does not actively scan. I apply it enjoy a rear up in the event of an infection I can double examine by initiating a scan. Once infected each program I attempted to open would fail.

Nuclear the previous update as you can is above a year old. My matter is that anterior to the 12/5 there were no issues. No novel hardware was set up that might cause conflict

I would be tempted to begin from scratch and re-install the OS. When this happens you never actually experience what damage the malware did or experience with absolute surely that it is gone.

Well the MSE was conflicting with the Immunet. In considers to the BIOS, it is well safe with that crash free BIOS characteristic on the motherboard. Flashing the BIOS is a good thing when your including issues but to only update it for the sake of updating is not the recommended procedure. If it aren't broke, don't repair it. I do not enjoy flashing it via Windows, that is asking for problem.

Did you flash it? It was simple wasn't it? No biggy. Are you everything adjust now?
