Default Setting up an additional router

Well I guess I have a novel question, Ihave my modem or router downstairs and the net works alright in downportion of house. Upstairs I linked another router (which is even amodem) and I have 2 links that I can link to, one is with defaultusername /password of modem. The other is open connection.

Therouter upstairs has the similar net like the one downstairs itappears, they are both equally spread about the house. When I had mymodem upstairs, I acquired net there in my room and thus with, nowthat I have only a router upstairs, it works in the similar way asdownstairs, there's not much coverage upstairs. Shouldn't it, like arouter, afford me net upstairs in rooms as well? I ezpect it to workas a repeater.

When the modem was upstairs I couldn't acquirenet where I am today, and today that I'm linked to the upstairsrouter, I have net down here also. How can I unite them into one linkand have the up stairs router work throughout the complete floor asit did when I had the modem upstairs. Rather as compared to doingthe similar thing the down stairs one is doing.

Apply a hub or switcher upstairs quite rather a second router. Switchers exclusively route packets to their proper destinations. Hubs un-exclusively route all the packets to all the ports. As you are applying it for a home network, which means you do not have a complete much more of traffic, either will do work. I am using a Link sys switcher in a bedroom and a Dynex hub in the garage. Both work fine for me. glc will experience which are the most reliable brands.

How do you connect the 2 routers together? I've installed multiple wireless routers through cable with dissimilar LAN addresses and different IP pools to afford separate ranges depending upon the which links best. Only one is the gateway.

How did I link the two routers? Through Ethernet cable. I acquire that I require all else like a switcher or wireless access point but I don't experience how to do that. I attempted altering settings in the routers address, but it doesn't look to be doing work.

When I went to the store I asked for options and viewed a switcher but I told the guy I have a router lying about and he said it'll work only alright, and be cheaper, if I only linked with a cable. But I don't experience how to produce one router experience it has to only be a switcher or access point rather than routing

IIRC I left DHCP enabled and altered the address pool allocated thus that seeming at the IP address would flag which router was in use:
Floor 1 had address pool of 10 to 19, floor 2 was 20 to 29, floor 3 was 30 to 39.This was a couple of years ago and I haven't seemed at it like thus the numbers might have been dis-similar. It was more inexpensive to do things this way as compared to re-cable a building.

"I can't log into the main router, it wont allow me access the IP. Even if I disconnect the other router. Both are link sys."You may have a trouble with IP assignments out of it. How about doing a reset (switch on rear) then adjust the computer for automatic IP then do a ipconfig /renew and ipconfig to detect out what it is handing out default. Then watch if you can ping it. If thus, browse to it and configure it. This with the second router disconnected.

Go via the same things with the second (first disconnected) producing certain that the address of the router and the addresses

Okay, thus I attempted to access settings of original router (Thomson SpeedTouch 585V7) and I had to keep username and password, I searched online for defaults, one site said Admin - blank another said password is the serial number, I've attempted each combo possible from variations of admin or administrator (caps/no caps) to blanks to each number possible with the router itself, nothing was working.

Now I attempted to alter password to watch if that produces a difference as the username isn't needed for that and when I clicked save alterations, today I can't access the routers IP at all!!! What is happening?

Attempt to access IP and it's asking me to log in, didn't have that trouble earlier. I could access but required to log in to edit settings. Does it have anything to do with my password alteration? Does that mean it's my password but some username I haven't figured out?

I did reset the router earlier though I was capable to access it's IP address, it reset entirely, I had to log in to the ISPs website to access internet, but then I messed with password and that occurred. I'll reset it from the router itself but I'll be including the similar log in troubles like I don't experience what the username or password is.

And I've been to that link but it's not working. Says the password should be the s/n if it was bought later 2010, but I don't think it was otherwise it would be working.
