Default Cox Favored Not functioning Up to Speed

I only signed up for Cox High SpeedInternet favored, which they advertize like "up to 15 Mb/sec"download speeds. When I test the speed with PC Pitstop and the CNETBandwidth Online Speed Test, the speed is only in the 2-4 Mb range. Is it typical for Cox speeds to be this much slower as compared toadvertized?

I have an HP laptop, Celeron M, 1 Gb RAM, XP SP2,Motorola SB5101U modem, Netgear N300 wireless router. In their flyer,Cox refers using their "Connection Optimizer" to updateregistry keys when applying XP, but the documentation for thisservice explains to apply it only with their Ultimate service.

WhenI talked with Cox tech support, I was told the receive signal of mymodem was slightly weak. The tech told me not to run the ConnectionOptimizer. Any guesses for what I can do to acquire speed up to theadvertized specifications? The Cox tech said they could arrive outand examine the cable link to the house, thus I surprise if that'sthe next step.

Did the technicians arrive out and, if thus, what was the outcome? I am downloading usenet binary files and cannot download faster as compared to 1.6mb/sec. Internet file downloads never exceed 1.6mb/sec no matter which premium file hosting supplier I apply. Any insights, guesses, or comments are appreciated.

I am having the same issue and also while the speed tests display that my dld is 17mb I'm never transcending past 1.7...sometimes when I'm downloading from iTunes or applications directly it goes up to 2.4, but then goes rear down to 1.7...i don't know what the deal is I called them and they afforded me instructions to reset my modem and router and bla bla but nothing however worked.

Usually, the issue here is that advertized download speeds are in mega bits per second, and download speeds are reported as bytes per second. Therefore, 1.6 megabytes per second would equal about 12.8 megabits per second. So, it feels enjoy you're acquiring what you're paying for.
