I only signed up for Cox High SpeedInternet favored, which they advertize like "up to 15 Mb/sec"download speeds. When I test the speed with PC Pitstop and the CNETBandwidth Online Speed Test, the speed is only in the 2-4 Mb range. Is it typical for Cox speeds to be this much slower as compared toadvertized?
I have an HP laptop, Celeron M, 1 Gb RAM, XP SP2,Motorola SB5101U modem, Netgear N300 wireless router. In their flyer,Cox refers using their "Connection Optimizer" to updateregistry keys when applying XP, but the documentation for thisservice explains to apply it only with their Ultimate service.
WhenI talked with Cox tech support, I was told the receive signal of mymodem was slightly weak. The tech told me not to run the ConnectionOptimizer. Any guesses for what I can do to acquire speed up to theadvertized specifications? The Cox tech said they could arrive outand examine the cable link to the house, thus I surprise if that'sthe next step.
