I had service from Century Link forroughly a year. During that time I never once acquired the speed theyclaimed. I was paying for 3mb/s and most of the time it remained at1. I have watched it go as low as 300kbps still.
In lateDecember early January I decided I had had enough and would not liketo renew service. I called them and remarked their customer servicerepresentative that I would enjoy to discontinue service. Therepresentative I spoke to said that would be fine and that servicewould not proceed. As soon as my payment was received theyreconnected service and now are saying I am on the hook for variousmonths of service I had explicitly asked to be disconnected from.
They claim that there is no record ofthe call also while I can show very clearly from my phone recordsthat I spoke to them twice in the two days prior to payment beingsent. When I asked to watch their records of my calls the secondlevel manager I spoke to said he could not authorize that and that itcould take a week for them to acquire that information to me. Like hecouldn't only do a print display and e-mail it. He even said thatalso if I had asked for service to be disconnected it would have beenreconnected automatically because I paid electronically via my bankinstead of paying above the phone. That even creates a entire muchmore of sense.
When I asked to ensure that it is noted on myaccount that I, especially now, do not expect it proceeded again hestated that he can do that but how I pay will determine if it iscontinued again. I asked how I could avoid this and he said he couldnot help but that I should contact their financial department andthey could set the account to never reconnect again. I called them atthe number he gave and they had no idea what he was talking about.The girl said just to wait until the end of the month and then theaccount will automatically be canceled. I'm sure this is the pointwhere they turn it over to collections. Therefore essentially theanswer is unless you are delinquent plenty of to be turned above to acollections agency we reserve the right to only hold reconnectingyour service and charging you for it. That even produces a much moreof sense.
