Hi , I require some advice.... I amgoing to be upgrading at the end of the month and selling my currentboard or RAM or CPR or GPU. My first question is is it better to gofor one stronger card or is it better to go for 2 somewhat weakercards but have them slit?

And what is better for a gamingbrand. Intel or AMD, i no that is a well open question with a muchmore of answers but if you could attempt to answer without a muchmore of geek speak lol, and i have heard about these AMD 8 coreprocessors. Are they any good for gaming?

I tend to go Intel but just because I am a small more familiar with them. AMD are commonly somewhat better cost or performance ratio. But yeah, steer considerably clear of the Bulldozer chips. Like for the SLI, a couple of smaller cards will usually give more performance for the same price but generally the additional noise or heat or power consumption stops it being worthwhile. Best bet is to acquire a decent single card, then in a year and a half if you actually want more power you could acquire another of the same, SLI from the off doesn't leave you that upgrade path.

For gaming on a sub budget AMD is a good choice, I wouldd go for a phenom x4 or x6 but bulldozer is a nono! If you can go over Intel is the master, an i5 2500k is the best processor out today for price/performance ratio. Like for the graphics card, I would go straight to a single GPU setup because slit, although more powerful, will come with drawbacks as heavy said, it will even have more compatible issues on games. Solid GPUs at the moment for value are the GTX560s and HD6950s.

Ok, thanks for the advice so far. I will hold away from the bulldozzer chipset. Like for GPU I already have a 460gtx thus I can run any game but I would acquire another of that card for some additional power later down the line. Like for budget I was looking for a MB or RAM or CPU set for around 250 that will beat my current rig.

Also this phenom, does the the x4/ x6 relate to how many cores it has. I never applied amd. Always had intel. Been reading about the x6 1055t. sound quite good for the price. How much of an improvement would I acquire with that going from my core 2 e6600 2.4 .

Not bad, still, if you are applying this for gaming and not content creation. The x6 would be a waste. I dropped down from the 1050T X6 to a 955 BE X4 and I remarked a quite sizable difference in performance. The x6 was fast, certain, but the x4 only functioned so much better.

I would personally acquire the x4 above the x6 but if you have the budget to acquire all you require as well as have plenty to acquire the X6, do it. By the way, is that in GBP, USD or funny Euros?

Cool, like you have a 460 as well would u go slit on another one or a newer better card when the time comes. its in GBP by the way. The use of the system will be for gaming with the odd bit of downloading movies or music and I want to run games as cod mw3 and bf3 on high graphics.

I personally would not SLI it but that's because I am replacing mine. Still, if you do not look as dropping the equivalent of 300 USD then yes, SLI away. Save up and acquire a novel video solution once you really have troubles running 2x 460's in SLI.
