    Default New Hard Drive

Hi., I have purchasedlaptop in late 07 its an acer travel mate 7720 about a year ago itcrashed. Thus a friend told me to attempt setting up another windowsthus I did. It worked but I had two OS on it.. novel and old one. Thus it worked for about 11 months then crashed again and said nooperating system detected. . Thus I went out and purchased a novelhard drive and expected to begin fresh.

But it would load upfrom the disk go to set up windows XP and stop and say can notdetected hard drive disk.... thus what I was told was to slipstreamusing n lite or whatever. Hence i downloaded everything the driverswith this other computer put them in made a novel ISO and burnt it toa disk and went to attempt it.. and I acquire ahcix64.sys notdetected...please someone assist me with this because its driving menuts.

Have you attempted just wiping the original hard drive and setting up to that? If you can acquire it to work and however expect to apply the novel drive then at least you experience the method works. It could be requiring drivers during set up or something.

Given that it's XP the best option would be to go into the laptops bios, and alter the hard drive controller to IDE mode. There will be a slight drop in transfer speeds, but basing on the speed of the hard drive you might not remark it.

Other than you will have to go via nLite again to watch what went wrong on the slip streaming. It could be that you acquired the wrong driver, and in fact if I read it right it looks as you've slip streamed in the 64bit AHCI driver, which if this is XP 32bit, the installer would come up with that ahcix64.sys error.

If I remember correctly the 7720 is an Intel depended laptop, hence you will expect to catch their driver for it. As Acer is useless go to HP's site here, and download the file. Extract it using 7zip or WinRAR to a folder, or run the file which will do the same thing while when it completes extracting don't set up it. Go into the extracted folder, and you will watch a folder within called "Files". Within there are all the files you.

Ok thus I did that keep it on n lite. and it comes up with a list of controllers. They are all intel but you acquire ones as ICH9 SATA AHCIController (desktop ICH9R) .. or 82801HEM SATA RAID controller that is two out of around ten that came up.. Do I require one. or all of them.. and if one..…...

Seek the one that tells, "Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller" first. This is the one for ICH8, which "should" be the hard drive controller in your laptop. If it doesn't work attempt either the listing above it, "Intel(R) 82801HR/HH/HO SATA AHCI Controller" like this is even for ICH8 (ICH8R in fact), or the one below it, "Intel(R) ICH9 SATA AHCI Controller" as I think some of the later versions of that laptop used that controller instead.

If none of those work try the one listed as, "Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller". It is extreme potential that the laptop is applying an even older controller, ICH7, and that is the listing for that controller. In any case it won't hurt the system to attempt each out, just that it will bring time as you might have to re-begin the process above each time it fails.

A 64 bit XP was may be a bad thought. When seeking drivers for 32bit XP is fairly simple for a laptop of that age finding 64bit drivers may take a bit, and may be not at everything in a couple cases.

In any situation you require to discover the drivers for it, and that means search them down. That, or catch few kind of application that is capable of searching for drivers for you, or few kind of drivers collection pack, such as DriverPack Solution, a program which integrates a collection of drivers backed up by DriverPacks.net.

I experience the 7720 support windows vista or win7 x64.... well at least all excluding the web cam if you the model with one.. almost everything of them appear to though. Win7 looks to contain doing work camera driver where like gain vista does not appear to... I traded around 6 of the Acer 7720's.... applying the intel ICH8 AHCI way.

Nowadays it is getting more and more hard to get windows XP to work cleanly particularly today that driver backup is falling like a rock. But downloading the most recent F6 Rapid Storage Technology Driver package and drawing out it to a USB flash drive.... should allow it to find the correct driver when you install windows XP and make certain to push F6 repeatedly so that you can pick the necessary driver.

But default win vista/7 both have a generic driver.. which I have detected is best to let windows apply that driver to setup.. and then when your in windows... just run the iata Intel driver package installer .. and it will setup everything the latest goodies.

Keep in mind.. if your having frequent issues even with a novel drive.. there is a remote possibility that the hard drive controller in the laptop may be faulty or failing.... I have had 3 laptops... it is a uncommon thing.. that would just randomly corrupt or fail to do the read or writes exactly resulting in most of the hard drives data left in tact, but the boot manager and system directories would only fowl up...

Only way to acquire those machines to work long term was to apply a USB drive to start from... evidently not the best solution. Customers ended up replacing them as of course.. warranty had expired.

Hey, therefore I acquired the sound and the internet to work .. applying it right now! but there are however few that do not work . Like the mass storage controller. And a some others.. Yes this is the Acer with the crystal eye. Would you have a link to where I could find these drivers? because I can not just update them watching how I attempted that with the spot.

The Ethernet one was the merely one I could not figure out nearly as there was no set up tab. But everything the rest of them. worked ! Life saver sidekick. Thanks for them! Thus I am down only to the Ethernet one. And then I would not have anymore to setup!
