Philips is more of a hard core consumer product manufacturer, which means mass production and consequently compromise in quality. But Philips is one such manufacturer who has every time stood apart from tradition with the SWV3435/93 HDMI cable. On the performance front. the cable is surely a 'more than average' quality product.
The skin tones looked great while the contrast was reasonably good. It could handle the 'Big Fish' Blu-ray disc with respectable consistency, while the vivid colour palette on the disc came across with accurate saturation and balance. When made to deal with upscaled content the cable was again able to maintain its consistency in terms of speed and colour but there was still more scope in the noise control area. As a result, the images lacked detail.
It was also a little difficult to manoeuvre the cable as desired, if rolled beyond a point it took time to regain the original shape. Though not effective as some other highly priced cables we have seen, it did not hamper the image quality at least. It
can prove to be a good option if you don't want to shell much and yet expect high quality.
