Default msi p45 platinum CPU board will not turn on

hello I will test to explain this as excellent I can. My mother shut down on me last week, and it will not run on. I am acquiring power to the board because the red led is glowing. When I press the power supply key on the back of the unit when I press the button on the motherboard, what I do see when I turn it on, entire the leds on the board will flash on fast too the led in the power supply fan will flash and the fans will only kick and nothing. There is an 8 pin power attachment on the power supply and it is attached to the board. when i pull it off and press the key on the mother board the unit will work, but no power to the central processing unit. I tested another central processing unit and similar trouble. Does anyone have an answer for this trouble.

What is your complete computer specifications? It looks similar to the power supply that you are utilizing is not capable sufficient to give power to the hardware parts. Have you tested any other power supply and assured if the computer is booting up. First rule out this troubleshooting and then we will arrive to some conclusion whether its a Power Supply Unit error or the mobo itself.

Hi I have a Msi motherboard p45 platinum with and 850 watt power supply 8gigs of random access memory 500 gb hard drive and entire that good material ThE unit ran nice for 4 years the central processing unit is a intel core 2 quad 2.66.

If you read my thread correctly it mentioned that the unit has power because of the red led on the board. If you search a picture of the board you will see that it utilizes the complete 8 pins to power the cpu but when i get rid of the cord that power the central processing unit it will power the unit on all fans and light work and too the video card work but not display on the display because on the cable to the cpu is got rid of. but if I reconnect it it will only flash the leds on the board and kick the power supply and thats all.

Well, can you go into the bios and assure the readings of the Power Supply Unit, see if anything associate to the readings of 3.3V or 12V is below the real reading cause if it is then it is a sure shot PSU consequences. If these readings are perfect then you can require to troubleshoot the central processing unit, clean any dust if it is there or use few thermal paste.

Can you arrive to the reset CMOS button in the I/O shield on the motherboard, assure if it is not out entire the way? If it is then you require to have it pressed down. Other than that, I have a powerful experienced that the Power Supply Unit is faulty here, because when you disconnect the central processing unit, then motherboard and all fan start up, but when the central processing unit is attached then it wont, because the power supply unit is not capable to give sufficient power to the board, can you verify it?
