Maybe you have too many programs running at once and not enough ram to run all the stuff at once. Maybe shut down a few things before updates. Why isn't Avast updating on auto.??

Your system is most probably affected with some virus which prevents avast from being updated. There are some viruses which are not even detected by the avast. So try using some another anti-virus software to clean your computer. Best of luck!

Do you surely have virus in your pc? Try online virus check. This will work 100% and your problem will be solved.
