    Default Should a NON-GAMER upgrade to i7?

Presently I’m improving from weeks of computer downtime and I consider my MB is injured. It will start but no picture signal with multiple graphics cards, psu, cables, switched out etc. likely pci-e socket damage but the other one doesn’t labor either so, I need a new mobo. The system below has served me well for 3 or so years and my thoughts of improvement it but im a little puzzled at the recital gain. I do a little video editing for friends and family and a lot of unraring, multitasking and watching a lot of blu ray/ high definition stuff and that’s quite much it with CPU strength. I don't mind expenses 650 or so but if I truly don’t need it could somebody let me recognize?

    This is the setup now:

MB -broken ASUS p5w DH deluxe
    GPU -ATI 4670 - 512gddr4
    RAM -Corsair 1gbx4 6400 c4
CPU -e6600 2.4 -which id like to overclock to 3.0 again
    PSU -Antec hx520
    CASE -Antec p180
    RAPTOR -os Windows 7 RC1
    STORAGE -1tbx2 Seagate barracudas.

Depending on the software packages you employ a non-gamer could advantage even more from the i7 improve than somebody frequently involved in gaming.

i7 would be a good improve but understand that you're gonna be expenses as a minimum 600;if you don't think that's value the cash I advise a Phenom II 940 or 955, and AM2+ mobo. You can get both of those together for perhaps 350.

Ok if he's seeking to keep money why would he buy a Phenom II 955 that’s a AM3
DDR3 is a lot of money you be able to lift HD3300/790GX combo deal for under and get 8gigs DDR2 for about so that’s only 400 to build. With the money he keeps. He can obtain Dragon F1 Extreme liquid nitrogen cooler and overclock it to 6 GHz then his computer would scatter the i7 even if it only had DDR memory.

The cost dissimilarity between a contentedly valued Core i7 and Phenom II 940 is only 70 bucks top. I would speak go for the Core i7. For a little over 50 bucks more, you get approximately twice the presentation in CPU-intensive applications.

Thx for the answers! I found a release box MSI X58 Eclipse SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard OPEN BOX and yes I absolutely desire to overclock the pop out of this chip. It also looks like people are leaning towards the p6q motherboard for some cause but I like the x-fi fitted and the overclock capability. I’m not certain but with overclocking this seem like the one to obtain. The phenom seems great for the budget minded but I'm on the computer so much that I'm going to adapt a Borg embed next month.

Main thing is, you not at all see i7's benched at contentedly priced' do you? It's still all regarding the CPU and GPU with gaming. If you're a gamer then forever purchase a cheaper CPU at the cost of a faster GPU. Unless you are purchasing the fastest GPU now and arrangement to improve it every time a faster GPU is introduced then don't even believe i7 for gaming.

I recently purchased a 4670 Vcard because anything else I was told is excess and for gaming, so I imagine I’m covered there. Mainly it will be employed for up scaling 1080p images to my front projector. My peni--screen is 133". So I’m hoping that was just in the center of undercooking and elaboration it with a gtx 260 or something along those lines just for up scaling.
