    Default Upgrading a P4 3.0?

Just marveling, I contain an aged computer that was constructed for BF2 lots of years before, it’s P4 3.0 2 gig RAM x1950 pro, just marveling if its probable to improve the CPU? (I have a new computer, but I have fun alongside with a friend, run AA3 but could perhaps run it improved I believe if I improved the CPU).

You are next to the peak end of the 478 socket CPU options. It’s a misuse of moment to improve the CPU. If something I would attempt to obtain an ATI 3850 video card. If you can find a 4770 agp that would be pleasant but there’s nothing on newegg.

If you contain a polite psu it should be well.

This will create much enhanced sense until you construct a new system...

I like to ask query about it. Is it a hollow 478 or 775?

If it's a 478 you're turned. If it's a 775, then search for the bios inform notes for that mobo and observe which current CPUs it maintains.

If it is 775 there is a different way.

You could obtain manually a superior P45 board (I'm a Gigabyte fan following my current buy), some DDR2-800 or 1066 memory and a novel PCI-Express video card. None of those require being luxurious items.

Construct it with your aged CPU, then later when you acquire more money; change it out for a Core2 Quad or Duo. The end effect evaluated to your current system will be enormous. I did the P4 3.0 to Core2Duo 3.16 changeover this year, in the few benches I did, results were about 4x performance augment.

But anyway, what motherboard are you with?

I possibly wouldn't recognize how to construct a computer from ground up opening with motherboard, I denote if it is simple I could attempt, I just recognize at the moment how to adapt things like video card, CPU, RAM well about everything apart from power provide and motherboard never messed with those so far.

Just did the search for at Abit.

You're quite much unfortunate with upgrades I'm afraid; your motherboard isn't yet listed to hold up the Pentium Dual Core, shun Core2.

Highest CPU I could observe was the Pentium 4 EE 3.7 GHz, but it wouldn't actually be value it.

Not value it to improve the CPU anymore. You'll only acquire least gains.

You require to be on as a minimum a P31 or P33 or higher to perceive some developments. Save than money and obtain yourself an i7.

This board holds simply the Pentium 4 not the Pentium D. You contain two alternatives. Obtain an improved video card, in which it will perk up your game play and could create you happy until you acquire more money to construct a newer system.

OR, construct a new system currently. You don't contain to acquire the I7 so don't worry thinking you encompass to pay out over 1,000 to have a pleasant gaming rig. Get a Core 2 duo or a newer AMD CPU. It will be light years ahead of what you are used to now and could be had for approximately 300-400 bucks with your aged system container, disk drive, Operating system and hard drive.

    Thanks for all responds.

Ok, so I deduce I’ll now purchase a new system.

Here is my latest Computer specification: (it's in fact 2 years older but I declare latest compared to my elder one with 2 replacements.)

    EVGA Nforce 680I SLI Motherboard
Thermaltake VA8003BWS Black ATX Tower Case
    X-FI Xtreme Gamer
OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 8 gig ram
    Windows Vista x64
    EVGA GeForce GTX 275
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6700

I was thoughts of placing the Intel Core i7 920 Processor in my original computer and set the E6700 in the one I would have made, I would thinking of something like this if you contain any thoughts of what to alter/add, let me recognize.

For all new assemble, I would excuse yourself from LGA 775 motherboards and CPUs. Go for incredible more new akin to a P55 or X58 chipset. DDR3 Memory is improved than DDR2 and is only a little buck more.

When provide for DDR2 memory goes down, it will be hard for you acquire good RAM at a good cost.

I wasn't certain what you destined by "I was thinking of placing the Intel Core i7 920 Processor in my novel computer, and put the E6700 in the one I would have complete", but you'll need a diverse motherboard and RAM for the i7 920.
