I discovered the difficulty, but not the answer:

Speaker system up is: front speakers and back speakers settings in the link menu arise. (Black output is the back, the facade is green /below black/)

If you system 4 channel type in settings, REAR speakers are subdued. Because in this channel form there the 4 speaker means 2 FRONT and two SIDE speakers.

If you place to 8 ch forms, you will listen to the same speakers as back speakers, as it's should be. But in this case you will not obtain the right 4 channel sound, because for example monaural center sound will not be heard in the facade speakers.

This is actually confusing position. Why 4 ch forms along with side speakers, I don't know, but completely impracticable the onboard sound card to enjoy full 4 ch speaker systems.

Adjoin me to the register of folks perplexed by this difficulty.

On my new Gigabyte 780G board I require to place the output to 8 channels so the back speakers can work.

I'm going to attempt your latent solution; I presume I'll have to take my home theater to the top of a mountain now to get the desired result.

Rapid note for winamp - you required to employ custom edition to get your winamp output to 5.1. Verify the website for solution.

By defaulting winamp output is stereo...

    Holy Schneikies!! It worked!

I did precisely what killervamp suggested...discover an older realtek driver if you have analog speakers...in this case account r1.50...and it worked like a charisma!

Now I have accurate surround sound with the back speakers working entirely as before. I even can watch DVDs with DTS tracks. It sounds immense.

Thanks fellow! I owe you a frosty beverage. Once I obtain down this mountain.

I had the similar difficulty with the VIA Realtek Audio driver.

Originate a small button named "Speaker fill" where you system how many speakers you have (HD Audio deck) and it works ideal. Guess it was as simple as that for me as a minimum, it employs the 2.1 music and fills all speakers with it.

It sounds akin to the difficulty with 5.1 sound is you're plug in them into the incorrect port. In a true 5.1, the best speaker system is to have the "back" speakers on either side of you facing your ears and all speakers’ equidistance from you. I'd envisage you are plugging the "back speaker stop from your speakers into the back speaker plug on your aboard audio, when in its place it should be going into the side speaker. This will give you the fullest audio, since otherwise you are maybe absent sounds to the side speakers when it is put to an 8 speaker system.

Anyway, since it actually is a 2 channel sound source you're employing, you require setting any applications that employ stereo to matrix or in some method add the extra channels. Unhappily, you'd perhaps have to acquire a decoder for that, since Realtek, as a low-priced onboard solution, is not going to offer an application for that like a true sound card company would. PowerDVD or WinDVD will add the ability in WMP and possibly winamp, as well.
